I am on Jira Software 8.20.5, we had an incident where an old backup was put into restore and not import and we lost all our project info. The restore failed and we still have all the attachments, and it is connecting to the database. The issue is we don't have a recent xml backup. Is there any other way to restore with what we have? Or retrieve what was deleted?
My first thought is that we have a snapshot of the server from a month before the issue. What problems would arise with attachments and updates to the database that happened in the month between? Is there a way to make this work or a different way to go about it?
I'm not clear on your issue (sorry). I think you are saying you have all your attachments from the past month, but only data that is a month old in a snapshot database.
The attachments (working from memory here) are in folders on your server with names the same as the issue they belong to (I think).
But I cannot imagine any way you'd find your month of lost data.
I don't know if this is relevant now, but you can run SQL queries that output directly to JSON. So if you had the missing data in a table "somewhere", You might have chance at rebuilding.
Here's a real long shot -- what about Email notifications generated when tickets are created? you might be able to "mine" that data to get enough worthy of importing with the CSV importer. I don't remember if there is an email log "out there" on the server that may not have been clobbered by your event.
Good luck -- this sounds like a nasty problem.
