When I right click on a task in a team managed project the standard browser context menu is opened instead of the Jira context menu. In our company managed projects right click opens the Jira context menu. Is this a permissions or configuration issue or a bug? Is there a way to enable the Jira context menus in team managed projects?

Hello @Reuven Jackson,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Testing on my local site, I can see the difference when right-clicking on an issue from the backlog only. When right-clicking on an issue from the Board/Sprint, it shows the options.

On team-managed projects, there is a button that shows the context menus, different from company-managed ones that don’t have this button and it only shows when right-clicking on an issue.

There is a feature request suggesting the implementation of this ability:

Thank you for your answer,

As a new user and as a developer I'm a bit dismayed and disappointed by the lack of consistency in the user interface. While trying to find out how to split a task, all of the documentation and community forum answers referred to the context menu that didn't exist in my project.  My understanding is that the difference between the two project types is primarily about who manages it and who can use it and not basic functionality.

Before I discovered that the functionality was available in the company managed projects, I was fine with the sub menu except that it doesn't include the functionality that I need, which is splitting an existing task. The context menu in the company managed projects does contain this functionality. The fact that this functionality is missing is my biggest issue.

Now that you've pointed out that the menus are available from the board, I've noticed that that context menu does not contain the split task option either. Is this by design or by omission? Should I have to move my task back to the backlog just to split it? In my mind, one of the basic principles of Kanban is that it is flexible and allows change.

Thank you for your feedback, @Reuven Jackson.

Team-managed projects are more simple, so there are many functionalities that are available on company-managed that weren’t implemented or won’t be implemented in team-managed ones.

Currently, it's not possible to split issues and there is a suggestion for that:
