Is there a convenient way to restore description from history?

I accidentally override the latest updates of my colleague in the cards,
since I got a draft that is outdated.

How can I restore the description to my colleagues latest update?
I checked in history tab but there no option to do it.

Seems like the attached images were auto deleted as well.

I'm afraid it's just a copy and paste out of the history.

You're everywhere in this community, so I thought I'd ask you :)
If I try to copy/paste out of history, I get all sorts of broken formatting, and I have to try to "remember" what the author wanted.
Should this be happening?

Possibly, it depends on what you're copying and pasting.

I'm pasting the description of the ticket. So, it's been formatted in the description, was written over (accidentally), and then I went to grab the old description so I could re-paste it. Note, this is the history provided by Jira. If I grab that, it just doesn't work at all. The formatting such as +Text+ is not modified to show the 'formatted' text

Hi @Louise Baker
You can check a solution from my team. We've also faced this problem when the description was changed, and history doesn't keep the format.

You can try Issue History for Jira to revert the changes made to the description. All the formatting will be saved. The only exception is the attachment. As Jira does not store attachments after removal, you can only return the name of the removed file.

Thank you for solving the issue (sort of) @Yuliia_Borivets__SaaSJet_ . However, we do not want to pay >$2000 a year for something that should inherently work in Jira. Appreciate it though

@Louise Baker

I understand your pain. Nothing in this world is perfect. My team faced the problem with lost formatting for changed descriptions as well as other Jira users. That was one of the triggers to implement it. The app is also equipped with lots of other features. And it received a Staff Pick reward for a reason.

I mentioned this solution as a way out, but it's your [and everyone's] priority to decide if it's worth it for you. I think everyone agrees that any development effort should be appreciated.

I also deleted description of a jira epic by mistake and then I thought it should be easy to restore it but I was not able to find anything except the unformatted description in history. However, I was able to restore the format by copy/pasting the history text to chatgpt and asking it to format it properly.
