We have an epic > story > subtask relationship - but struggling to get a burndown chart established for tracking subtasks.
Any ideas - apologies I'm fairly new to jira - BTW we are using jira server .
Regards & thanks in advance.
Hello @Andrew Wilks
The native burndown charts don't track completion at the subtask level, rather only at the "standard issue level" (i.e. Story, Task).
The standard issue level issues are intended to be scoped to describe a unit of work that can be completed and delivered. If you need to break that down into smaller pieces that individually aren't deliverable then you would use subtasks. At the end of a sprint, a standard level issue would not be considered "complete" if any of its subtasks were not complete. It is through completion of standard level issues, with their subtasks, that you get the burndown effect for sprints.
Thanks Trudy - That is exactly what I have found when looking at the possibilities :)

Hi @Andrew Wilks,
Jira's reports and gadgets do not track sub-tasks.
But this can be easily done by using the gadgets offered by our Great Gadgets app.
The Sprint Burndown Burnup Chart gadget lets you display sprint burndown/burnup with sub-tasks.
The Release Burndown Burnup Chart gadget lets you display release burndown/burnup, corss-team/cross-project burndown/burnup or epic burndown/burnup and it can include the sub-tasks in the calculation.
See more example of these gadgets (along with many others offered by the same app, which support also sub-tasks) in this articles:

Hope this helps.
