It is not possible to recover a deleted issue with out-of-the-box Jira Cloud features.  If you have built a backup/restore process for your site instance (and the issue is older than the last backup) it could possibly be restored.

The absence of "undo" for issue deletes is a good reason to remove the delete-issue permission for all roles except site admins.  Instead you could:

  • add an Abandoned custom field,
  • set that when something is abandoned, and
  • using board filters which exclude those items the effect is the same.
  • The benefit is you can always get back those issues by just clearing the Abandoned field.

Another work-around is to add an abandoned or cancelled status to your workflows for each impacted project.

Can you renumber the remaining issues to use the numbers that were deleted?  For example, I created HD-11 and HD-12 and then deleted them.  Can I renumber

HD-13 to HD-11

and HD-14 to HD-12?

No, that is not possible.  The issue keys are automatically assigned as issues are created within a project.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to recover a deleted issue/ticket/task in Jira Cloud. Once it is deleted, it is gone forever.

As a solution, we developed Restore Deleted Issues app which keeps track of deleted issues and allow you to recover them. In order for the app to work, the app must have been installed at the time the issue is deleted. So, as a preventive action for future deletions you can try Restore Deleted Issues app. Hope it helps.
