Is it possible to Integrate JIRA with SAP Solman, If yes then can someone please explain how?

I want to integrate Solman with jira in a way so that when incidents/Defects created in solman it should reflect in JIRA. Is it possible ?

Please explain how can I Do this from scrach?

I'm not familiar with the SAP Solution Manager. But I've been using the Jira RESTful API for several years and I can say for sure that you can create Jira tickets using the RESTful API. 

 

The question is, can you cause SAP Solman to call that API?
