Recently I found that I have the permissions to edit others comments and I think the opposite is also true, others can edit my comments in Jira. I found this odd, Is it a new bug or is it the configuration of Jira that needs to be changed ?
Hi @Viswam Devireddy ,
This is a feature, not a bug - and it's nothing new. Your permission scheme must have been configured to allow for the editing of comments. If this is not a desirable feature you can update your permission scheme to remove that ability.
Ok, thanks for letting me know, this is the first time I have seen this feature of being able to edit others comments in Jira, but just wondering how can we maintain the integrity of the comments/messages if everyone can have permissions to edit each others comments?

As this is permission configuration, it's up to your JIRA-Admin to set these correctly. As always, you must ensure your administrator configures the software you use according to your business and security requirements. Your administrator should be trustworthy.
If you are the JIRA administrator, you might want to update your knowledge on permissions: https://university.atlassian.com/student/activity/904430-manage-permissions-in-jira-cloud-skillbuilder-course-description

Hi @Birger Robrecht and @Rob Horan Thank you for your quick responses. I have now reported this to my Jira admin for their review. I understand this feature can be useful in some use cases, but I think it will also have potential implications.
Thank you once again.
