I suspect it's down to a known flaw in java.  What version of Java are you running JIRA on?  And what version of JIRA?

Right, that's not going to work. Jira 4.4 only runs on Java 6. But if you downgrade Java, you're probably going to get the same error because you need Java 8 to avoid it.

Java 6 with the exact same error, please tell me which parameter, and where the program asks to change
