Insight reference with attribute

kilinich February 9, 2018

Hi!

I'm surprised references in insight don't have an attributes.

How could I design my scheme to represent, for example, server plugged in particular port of PDU.

Here is the case: I have hp dl360 server and it's plugged in port 2 of PDU1 and port 3 of PDU2.

I expect I could create attribute "Powered" for server - object reference "Plugged in" and set attribute "Port" for that reference, but where? In some other CMDB (like CMDBUILD) references could have attributes and it's perfect for such cases. What could be done in Insight for Jira ?

Thanks for any ideas.

Hi Kirill,

Thanks for connecting with us. The reference type can't have any attributes, they are stored on the objects. I would have a port and pdu attribute set for each Server.

Under Insight videos, we have a section where we show how you can make cascading choices. That way you could make sure that you could only chose the Ports that are available on the PDU. For more information take a look at https://documentation.riada.se/insight/latest/insight-videos and Using placeholders on Object creation.

I would like to recommend you to visit https://jira.riada.se which is our open ticket system for feature requests and verified bugs. You can view, watch, vote etc for issues reported by anyone.

If you can't find an already opened feature request for this, feel free to create a new one.

If you have any issues or questions regarding this, please let us know.
