Import Jira Project (Cloud) Project Type Options

I have a simple Software Project and would like to import it completely into another Software Project.

The New Experience starts off ok, but the drop down for Type of Project it offers only contains the Business Project as an option.

This won't have the same fields as the Software Project, so it will not work for me.

Maybe I am missing something.

Hi @Andy Murdock ,

On the new experience, there should be two options - one for software projects, and another for business projects. I've checked the software option and it shows software projects only. Can you confirm that you've selected the right option.

Anyway, I've found a new experience to be quite limited at some points so I still prefer using the old experience when importing issues (especially from CSV file).

Indeed there are but even though I select Software the next page is as attached. As you can see, the next step already thinks it is Business :-(

Ah yes - missed that part. My bad.
I think that with the new import experience, you'll always end up with creating a new project.

In the info panel, it's stated that you might need to use an old importer if you want to 'move'/import issues to existing project.

I suggest checking out JAC to see if there are any open suggestions on this topic. If not,  you could reach out to Atlassian Support for them to check and potentially open a new ticket/suggestion.

I do want to create a new project (but I want a Software one and it assumes I want a Business one).

Seems like the import works in a way that from software project you can import only to new business project and vice versa.

What you actually would like to do is copy/clone software project if I got it right.

I think that for it, you'll need to use the old experience until software > software and/or business > business import is supported.
