Import Comment with Author from CSV

Luka Urushadze September 16, 2024

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to import comments for the issues from the CSV, but I can't seem to map the author anyhow. I've tried with all variations of the email and the user ID, as well as Full Name, only name (cause the CSV import wizard suggests this) but I get this error:

What can I do?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @Luka Urushadze

Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

Can you try giving the users unique account ID in this format.

(Date; ID of the comment author; Comment)

Here the Knowledge base Article that might be helpful

Hi @pinky_reddy, yes I've done this. Still getting the same error.

Here's the latest screenshot:

I've also tried it without including the part before ":", I've also tried to place the space before it for both cases. The error is the same.

Is the User account you are mentioning here have access to add comments on the ticket.

As a test you can try adding comment from your ID and see if it works. You can test from UI first and then try with importing from CSV

Hello @pinky_reddy

yes, the all the users could add the comments to the issue. Permissions don't seem to be the issue.

Best Regards,

Luka

Looks like something to check on date format and can you please confirm is the issue closed or open?

Luka Urushadze September 16, 2024

You're right! I don't know what was wrong, as I've tried multiple ways and the dates were mostly correctly imported, but it's working with this date format:
25/May/10 11:20 AM.

I wonder if it's possible to use Email to map the users now..

Yes you can try with email id.

What does email ID mean? with plain email addresses, it doesn't work :( It says it can't find the user

In the Document I see only Account ID mentioned, so not sure if we can be successful with using email address.
