I'm configuring a new Jira instance for the company I am working for. We would like to assign issues to a team up front, so they can have their own backlogs. I would like to make use of the already existing Teams field for that, but when I want to add it it has the label " Locked"
I am not completely sure why. Does it has to do with the kind of subscription? (I read it would be available for also free subscriptions) Or is it locked by purpose for preventing incompatibilities?
The Teams field is locked to prevent incompatibilities with Jira features. There are two ways to assign issues to a team up front:
Use a custom field and automation rules.
Use a third-party app.
I recommend using a third-party app if you need to assign issues to teams up front and have them have their own backlogs.
Here are some additional tips:
Make sure you understand your team structure and have a system for assigning issues to teams.
Use automation rules to help you assign issues to teams.
Communicate with your team members about how issues are being assigned.
Hi @Stijn Maes ,
a locked field simply means it is a Jira system field, you cannot change its' configuration.
You can add teams to the field using the "Teams" menu in the top menu bar, and add it to screens you would like to use it in the screen configuration itself.
Hope this helps!
