Hi @carl vincent dilig

What's the definition of "retire a Risk" in your instance? Do you mean you deleted it?

If yes, deletion is permanent - you cannot recover it from within Jira.

You could contact your internal Platform Admin Team and see if they have a recent backup of Jira - and if they can recover it that way?

---

If not, provide us some more details about the Risk and what retiring means, so we can assist further :)

Hi - I retired an open issue by accident.

Hi @carl vincent dilig

"Retired" isn't a term used in Jira normally.

You might have:

  • Deleted it - More (3-dots icon) > Delete
  • Transitioned it to Done (perhaps Retired is a resolution) - either by changing the Status, or moving it on a board
  • ...or something else

The right solution for you will depend on the action you took.

Can you still access/see the Risk? If yes, could you provide a screenshot so we can advise further based on what we can view?

Hi @carl vincent dilig

This looks like Jira Server/DC, not Cloud.

If there's an option to re-open your Risk, it should be a Status button just above this information. It could be called anything, but it might be a previous Status name, or Reopen, or similar.

If it's not there - you can check whether it's possible to reopen this Issue by clicking the View Workflow hyperlink to the immediate right-hand side of "Retired" - and see if there's a transition out of "Retired" - it would either be:

  • A line with an arrow pointing to an open Status or...
  • An open Status with an "All" arrow box next to it

---

If it's not possible to reopen the Risk - the next step will depend on whether you are the Administrator of Jira at your company?

  • If no, then contact your internal support team for further assistance
  • If yes, you could modify the Workflow to allow for Risks to be reopened. This help page is a good starting point to learn how to modify the Workflow.

---

If you need further instructions on how to edit the Workflow, or would like more advice on whether a transition exists out of "Retired" - please feel free to provide us a screenshot of your Workflow and we can advise further :)

Hi @carl vincent dilig and welcome to the community,

Do you use any kind of app for risk management? If yes, which one?
