How to validate Date Picker custom field

Hi.

I would like to validate user input for a date picker field during the workflow tranzition.

I have a screen and a field.  I need to check if the date inserted by the user passed or longer than one year from current date. in this case I shoule not allow the user to tranzition the status in the workflow.

I have scriptrunner. what's the best way? validator? behaviour ?

Any example script will be appreciated.
