How to setup a program and linked projects

Promeet Ganguly January 28, 2020

hello Community

We have a large program with multiple projects but in JIRA the program was set up as a Project and Out of box reporting only shows program level information for example the Sprint Burndown is for the entire program and not by each project.

Please let me know if someone in the community has setup JIRA in a manner to reflect the program > Project relationship with each Project having its own Scrum Board.

The "program" was misconfigured.  A program is (probably) a set of projects, not one.  In fact, I'd argue you're missing several more layers (although Jira does not do them natively and you'll need Portfolio or similar apps for smaller programs and Align for bigger ones)

If you want Jira Software to behave correctly, then the best thing you can do is 1 project = 1 (scrum) board = 1 team.  Epics live across projects, and the you should be looking at programmes being made up of many Epics (or higher)

thanks if 1 project = 1 (scrum) board = 1 team is it possible to link the projects and show them under a single umbrella ?

You can always report across projects, yes.
