How to see velocity of previous sprints when the estimation style changes from SP to Hours

Hi,

In my team, we started the Sprint Estimation in Story Points, but now we are planning to shift to Estimation in Hours. 

Problem that we are facing is that we cannot see the Velocity of previous sprints since in Velocity page the graph has changed to Hours and previous Sprints do not have such data. 

What is the way out? Please help

Hi @Sanyal_ Kunal,

Not sure if there is an workaround for the Jira reports. As @Bill Sheboy suggested, a solution would be to search for an app on Atlassian Marketplace.

If you consider the idea of using an app, our Great Gadgets app can be a good option because it offers a Team Velocity Chart gadget that lets you display the velocity for the past sprints by any estimation method (SPs or time estimates).

The gadget can display a Data tab with a detailed report about all the sprints and issues, which makes is a good replacement for that Jira report.

Thanks @Danut M _StonikByte_ , I have understood that this is not possible without a plugin. If I change the estimation from SP to Time then older Velocity graphs would be lost as there is not choice in Velocity like Burndown chart to switch between Story Points and Time.

Hi @Sanyal_ Kunal 

No, the built-in reporting uses the current estimation value.  It does not detect / report changes over time as you describe.

If you wanted to see the prior history you could investigate marketplace addons / apps which add such reporting or dashboard gadgets.  Their reporting is likely independent of the estimation setting for the Jira board.
