How to restrict users from editing a specific custom field using automation?

Jayson2 Contreras March 2, 2025

Hi,

Good day everyone!

I was trying to create an automation that will restrict other people from editing a custom field called root cause. I want other users to set the value of the custom field "root cause" at first when the field is still empty, but once it already has a value, I want only a certain group of people to be able to edit the field.

I have created this workflow using the If-Else statement, however, the block where the root cause is empty is not working as expected. It's still reverting back the vale of custom field to none/empty instead of retaining the value set to it by the user.

Kindly see the automation rule I have created:

Here's another one I tried:

Can anyone know how to make this rule run as expected?

Thank you very much in advance!

Regards,

Jayson
