Hi all,
I'm in the need to restrict access for a group of users to only issues within a given project, and they need to be restricted to only those issues assigned to them. How do I accomplish this?
TIA...
Randy
Hello @Randy O'Neal
What is the type of the project to which they should have access; Team Managed or Company Managed?
Do you have projects of both types (Team Managed and Company Managed) in your Jira instance?
The first step is setting up the project access/permissions for all projects so that the user group has access to only the specified project. That may require changing the access/permission on other projects to ensure the user group cannot access those other projects.
The second step would be to set up Issue Security in the target project to limit the issues the members of the user group can access. Issue Security configuration is different between Team Managed and Company Managed projects:
Company Managed: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-issue-security-schemes/
Team Managed:
Thanks, @Trudy Claspill , for the reply... I forgot I needed to provide that additional tidbit of information. We're talking about a Company Managed project, and no, we do not currently have any Team Managed projects.
I currently have the contractors assigned to a user group, an that user group only has access to our primary project. That may suffice for now; thank you for the details!
