How to reset a users password and reset own?

Steve Gardner November 14, 2024

Ive spent about an hour looking for how to reset my own password and that of others (im admin)...

the various instructions suggest (wrongly) about going to the user panel clicking on the '...' selecting "MORE" and resetting psswd.. problems is the '...' does not have MORE as option.

Another way was to go to the Atlassian Account under the security section and reset there.. problem there is  the cahnge password option requires current password.. and if you dont know the current, it doesnt really work now does it...

so, how does a person change their own password and how as admin can i force a password reset?

Hi @Steve Gardner

Are you an organisational admin? If so, you should be able to prompt a password reset by going to -> admin.atlassian.net -> sign in -> Directory -> Find the user -> 3 dots next to their name -> Prompt password reset.

If you don't see this, you either don't have sufficient privileges or there is a security policy in place potentially.

As for your own password, you'll need to reset your Atlassian account password from what I recall here: https://id.atlassian.com/login/resetpassword

Hope this helps.

Ash
