How to insert code (preformatted) in next-gen project issues

When I try to insert code block in my next-gen project issue, I just see the code as a regular text.

It looks to me like "{{" and "}}" are just plainly ignored.

Does not matter whether I enter these manually or use "preformatted" option from "Style" drop-down.

This is broken. It's been that way for a while. I've submitted it as an issue to Atlassian support: JST-464545

{{too bad I cannot see the issue, but I'm happy it has been reported. this is a big pain.}}

Yeah, for me, using Oracle SQL syntax, it removes all leading whitepaces, which makes code formatting really ugly.
