How to import a list of components into a project

Martina Levy November 4, 2019

I have 460 components in a csv file that I wish to import into a project.

I cannot find any way to do that despite looking in the community.   I don't want to pay for a solution and I am not a developer.

Can anyone help or is it.....create, copy, paste, save, next......

Hi @Martina Levy ,

Welcome to community !

You will be do import bulk components into project with built in functionality called CSV import.

Please refer below Atlassian on how to bulk import components in jira.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-bulk-import-components-into-jira-720418562.html

Thanks,

Does this link also work for creating new Components within Jira Cloud?   I would like to upload new components into Jira Cloud project?

@Todd Ritterand @Martina Levy I can attest to the value of Deep Clone which you can try for free. I am not a paid promotional celebrity or employee of codefortynine.

But it is not about importing the component/s into a project. It is about importing component/s into Issues of a project, isn't it? I couldn't find to import the component/s only to the project with defined Lead, Description, etc. Did I miss something?

Hi @Michael Aglas ,

You can try Jira CLI app (https://bobswift.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SUPPORT/pages/1186989383/How+to+create+components+in+bulk+using+Jira+Command+Line+Interface+CLI)  for creating bulk components in jira projects. Please refer below article for more details.

In above article, you need use the mention the complete display name of the user for component lead.

Thanks,
Avinash

I used Scriptrunner to do it... thought there is may be a standard functionality available, but it seems to be no use case for Atlassian.
