How to format text inline as code in an issue description?

Query

As an answer of mine explains, the "{{placeholder}}" inline monospace formatting is now deprecated:

It still is used but hasn't got the same rendering anymore. The border and background or the tag like appearance if you will is not any longer there.

However, I've been unable to locate a replacement. Surely one must exist?

Relevant

  1. For reference, I mostly use https://bugs.mojang.com/, so my knowledge may not be the most up-to-date.
  2. {code}
    ...or its myriad block counterparts are not a replacement.

I'm thankful for the response, but that's block formatting. I'm referring to inline formatting. If that's meaningless to you, I refer to w3schools.com/html/html_blocks.asp.
