Hi, I'm working with a project where a lot of tasks should be done for different officis.
In list view, I would like to filter on status To Do and In Progress, but when I do this, the hierarchy view of the issues gets removed.
How can I keep this overview? Or is there a better way to handle this kind of overview?
Before filter:
After filter on status:
Thanks!
Hey there! I'm Eric, Product Manager on the Jira Work Management team. As you've observed, the hierarchy view is not preserved when filters are applied today. But I'd love to learn more about your specific needs an dhow you envision this working with your projects.
Please let me know if you'd be willing to share more about your experience and needs. You're free to set up some time with me for a call via my Calendly.
Your insights would be invaluable in guiding our improvements to help you and your team do your best work.
Would be very valuable feature especially in the timeline view. I need to filter based on a custom property shared by both the parent and child issues (e.g., country), but when I use the timeline filter, I lose the hierarchy, which makes the timeline feature much less useful.

I too find it amazingly frustrating to lose my parent/child view. We're using Jira for data quality "projects" - not exactly development, not exactly project management. I need to see the nested relationship but suppress "done".

I second the motion. We love the list view and use it extensively in our projects. The quick drilldown makes it essential for high volume interactions with leadership and other stakeholders. Also, the inline editing helps us onboard legacy spreadsheet users. Without basic filtering capability, it's hard to tailor the view to the particular audience and still maintain the ability to "move on to the next epic" by collapsing. Thanks for considering our suggestion.

I have the same need. Here's one example: I like to filter on status when doing weekly stand-ups to highlight "in progress" tasks quickly but also want to maintain the hierarchy to ensure supervisors are aligned on overall workstreams (Epic/task) that they are accountable for although it may be one of their direct reports that is the assignee of a specific task or sub-task.
This used to be possible in Timeline view but has since been disabled. This has forced other workarounds to quickly focus on key tasks while still maintaining a view of the overall plan/structure.
