How to export and import Jira issues history

Haridev Sajikumar March 14, 2021

I have migrated Jira from Next-gen to classic using CSV export method however assignee / change history is not migrated as CSV file doesn't has history column. How I can export issues history from next-gen project and then import into classic project ?

Hi @Haridev Sajikumar  -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

It is not possible to import the change history as that is data managed by Jira.

However, if you instead moved the issues from one project to another, the issue history is preserved.

Best regards,

Bill

Googling it yields several answers that it's possible, only with JSON, not CSV.

Hope that it actually works and is possible.

Having so many use-cases about migrating historical issues from Jira Server to Jira Cloud, that would be a good bit of a downer not being able to migrate that critical data.
