How to exclude certain users or group of users from accessing projects

Saili April 5, 2024

I want to allow just the internal users to have access to my project, excluding the external users. The problem is...we don't have any such attribute , which tells us if the user is external or not.
We only have public name which shows EXTERNAL in it.2024-04-05_10h30_20.png
Please help.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Saili,

To solve it you can make use of the user groups in Jira, I propose you some steps to follow:

  1. Create a user group for "internal-users", if there is not one already created in which only internal users are included.
  2. Add all internal users to the "internal-users" group.
  3. Grant access to the "internal-users" group to your project.
  4. Make sure that no external user has been granted individual access to your project.

This will allow you to manage the permissions of your project and others by separating internal and external users.

I hope this helps you. Let me know if it does. Best regards!

Hi @Adrián García González

In this image you can see that we have only 3 options. So, not able to select a specific group

Oh, I can address the group. Thanks.

Hi @Saili

You have to select the "Private" option and then add the "internal-users" group as a member of the project.
Let me know if that worked for you, thanks.
Best regards!
