How to enable subtasks to be in different sprints?

Sometimes, we develop subtasks in different sprints. Right now, the only setting is to set all tasks to the same sprint as the story. Is there any workaround to allocate one subtask to a different to the main story sprint?
I am sure we could have done it in our previous Jira board, but since we moved to a new one, I can't find a way to enable it.

Hi @Karina Collis

Welcome to the community!

Please correct me if I misinterpreted your need :-)

Are you sure you were able to assign a sprint to a subtask in the other board? The field Sprint is not available on Subtasks, even though you try to add it to a subtask screen you can't see and edit it. If you still have the old board please add a screenshot.

Subtasks are not supposed to be "sprinted", the idea is to strive for Storys to be of a sprintable size so they can be completed. If a Story is not completed in a sprint, then the Story as a whole, should be moved to the next sprint in which the rest of the scope (with zero, one or more unresolved subtasks) can be completed.

If you mean that you don't see the subtasks at all  on your board you may need to check your board settings and the map of statuses to columns to see if the subtasks statuses are unmapped. .

If you mean changing parent issue (story) of the subtask you can do that through clicking on the breadcrumb icon
