Hi,
I am getting a lot of "junk" email notifications from JIRA.
There are relevant emails and some are less.
for example I don't want to get notified by email every time someone changes the Sprint field or changes the task progress.
Appreciate your help!
Hi @Ran H ,
The notification scheme defines how the notifications are configured for this project, you need to contact the administrator to make changes.
Thanks, I will contact the admin.
May I ask... Why is it I need to ask the admin to configure my email notifications settings?
I can not imagine how this logic complies with the GDPR...
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Notification schemes are usually based on Project Roles or Groups. The notification scheme should be modified so that only certain roles or groups get each of the notifications. See my answer below for how we do that.

Hi Ran - Welcome to the Community!
Yes, the Notification Scheme is the best route to go. I have very few things that send out notifications, and usually do that just for Reporters so they see when an issue is Closed or Deleted or Discarded.
However, I pretty much have everything send a notification to Watchers. I have turned off the default that a user gets added as a Watcher whenever they interact with the issue. They must on purpose add themselves to get the messages on each issue. Then they can stop watching whenever they want if it gets to be too much.
I hope that helps!

I understand your logic, but it relies on believing that you know what's best for me.
Now, I understand that might sometimes be true, but why not allow me to modify it in case I actually do have a clue of what's relevant to me or not?
In a dynamic and agile environment (*cough* JIRA *cough*) why assume that what fits you, and maybe a few more, fits everyone?
Anyways, appreciate the help!

That's why it is based on Watchers - which you can opt into or not on each issue. That way you decide for each issue if you want to receive notifications.
Having said that, Notification Schemes are shared across the organization - they may apply to only one project or many. But they certainly are not personal schemes for each person. And they can only be modified by the System Administrator.
