How to change the filter/group by defaults

Tristan June 18, 2024

Hello,

I am trying to edit and customise parts of my jira project a little bit better to include custom fields that have been created.

An example would be "Project Categories" as a custom field. I am trying to get them to appear here in the project under the "Board" but cannot find a place that allows me to modify this unless I scroll to the bottom of the "filters" and click the drilldown for Custom Fields.

How can I embed these into the immediate dropdown and change the existing fields there?

Hi @Tristan

Looks like custom fields are always at the bottom of the Filter list, but you have the option to save the filters once you build them, once saved or starred, they should always appear on top of your filter list.

@Tristan If i do not misunderstand you, that is the way it works.

You do not need to use a custom field for project categories as it a built in feature and you can search for it too.

Hey Nicholas! Are you referring to the "Category" built in feature which is displayed in the above screenshot? If so - this one is shared across many projects in our organisation and is also locked down, so it cant be edited.

This is why i created a custom field and im wondering how to get that custom field represented there instead of categories :)
