How to add an automated email reminder based on a custom field selection?

Lara Arthur August 8, 2024

Hi there community,

I have an issue called Announcements with a custom field called 'Reminder cadence'. This field has 2 selections - 2 business days and 5 business days.

The idea is the user that creates the announcement chooses 2 or 5 business days on create. Once the issue is created an email goes out with the announcement details. Based on the cadence selection an automated email then goes out as a 'reminder' either 2 business days after the first email or 5 business days after the first email.

I'm using Jira Automation but having a hard time setting this up. Right now I am adding a comment to the issue on creation and attempting to use the comment to drive the reminder based on the field selection.

Anyone have ideas for this? I am using data center.

Thanks!--Lara

Hi @Lara Arthur

Perhaps you can consider configuring automation with the Scheduled trigger and a JQL query that runs daily and only includes any Jira issues approaching the date.

Please refer to the following documentation for the Scheduled trigger for more information:

Thank you.
