How to NOT show external or private email addresses

When editing an issue in Jira (version 7.7.2), I navigate to the Reporter field and type the username where it then presents /shows the personal / external email addresses.

Is there a way I can suppress this, i.e. to not see the personal / external email addresses?

Hi Werner,

In Jira Settings-> General Configuration -> Options -> User Email Visibility, there is an option to hide the email address. This page has more details:
