How do you officially retire test cases in JIRA?

Agneta Klayn July 6, 2020

Hello,

My project has quite a few test cases in JIRA, that are obsolete, but they are still linked to current user stories. How do you officially retire test cases in JIRA without damaging the tractability.

Thanks,

Agneta

Ok, looks like they're plain Jira issues (with appropriate names and fields)

Change the workflow for them so that includes a "retired" status and allows you to move the issue to them, setting the resolution as it goes into retired.  That will tell Jira the case is now "closed"

Thank you! That makes sense.

No, we do not, our test cases are part of all issues created. They are linked to defects and user stores (see screenshot). There are no options to Retire. What do you recommend?

It depends on how they are being implemented in Jira.  Are you using one of the test management apps to hold them?

we are using x-ray to track the test executions, is it really necessary to update the test case status in Jira even when we have s-ray to track executions.
