How do we see the source code of Jira stories' descriptions?

Hey folks, I often create stories via API and need to know the raw markup creation rules. The help documentation helps, but there are edge cases it doesn't cover. So What I often need to do is use wysiwyg to get what I need and then see the source code of it so that I could copy it to my software.

How can I inspect the source of the markup?

I managed to google some conversations around it, but they seem to be too old and the solutions there don't work anymore.

Thanks!

ooh, I see. the wysiwyg gets broken sometimes. Displays perfectly fine in the ?oldIssueView=true mode but broken without it. I guess the new changes introduced lots of new bugs. Well, I hope they will be fixed rather sooner since it looks ugly.

I would appreciate a few examples of nice looking formatting that would work via API. Currently even multiple h2. get broken. they look quite ridiculous.
