How do I turn on notifications for a next gen project?

ERIC KIM July 8, 2019

I have a next-gen project but there doesn't seem to be a notification schema associated to it for some reason. I've somewhat verified this by taking a look at notification schemes and there isn't any assigned to this particular project (but there are on others).

I also know that I can't edit the notification scheme on a next-gen project for some reason, so how I resolve this? I'd like to enable notifications on this project.

I'm on Jira Cloud.

Hello Eric,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The Next-gen template was designed for those users who felt overwhelmed by the complexity of JIRA Classic template and requested a simpler option, straight to the point with fewer options of customization.

That been said, it no longer has schemes like Issue type screen schemes, Workflow scheme, Issue type schemes, Field configuration scheme, and Screen schemes. By default, all users mentioned in the issues (e.g Watcher, Assignee and Reporter) should receive email notifications for all updates.

Although it is not in the initial plan, we have a feature request opened to allow notification management for Next-gen:

Ability to manage notifications in Next-gen projects

Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.

For now, you can use the classic project type to keep configuring the notification as you want.

For more details about the differences between Next-gen and Classic projects, you can check the documentation below:
