How do I set up alerting to notify a week prior to due date

I have created a classic project I have set up a series of tasks with the simple flow To do  then Done.  

I also have a number of subtasks - all of these have a schedule.  i need to alert the assignee when action is required by them.  This is date specific alerting.  I cannot see how to set this up.

OOTB you can consider a filter and subscription that runs daily showing all issues not done and do in <=5d. Or consider a more glamorous solution thru an addon, e.g. automation for jira or Scriptrunner, etc.
