How do I get story point field to appear in the list view of a Jira Business Project?

Stacy Lalumondier August 26, 2024

We have several Company-managed business projects and these teams use the Story Points field for prioritizing purposes. The field displays accurately on their tickets and they have been using this field for over a year now. The issue we are having is that we cannot add the Story Point field to the list view. It doesn't display when using the +.  Based on the help center articles, a number field is available to add.

I can easily add story points to list views for teams using company-managed scrum or kanban projects. Is it not an option to add Jira's Story Point field to the list view for a business project even if they use this field within the ticket? I understand they can use the advanced issue search, but it would be helpful to utilize the project's list view.

Hi @Stacy Lalumondier

I was able to replicate what you are encountering. Based on my experience, this was probably by design in order to get people to use JSW project templates if they are going to use Story Points.

As a workaround you can utilize the Issues View and save a filter with the Story Points column visible. issues.jpg

That's what I figured, but I was hoping otherwise. Thanks! :)

Hi @Stacy Lalumondier

if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a range of advanced features - including support for (configurable) issue hierarchiesissue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting - and works across any number of projects.

Plus, the story points field is supported anywhere in Jira, of course including business projects. This is how it looks in action:

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes
