How do I find the type ID for different types of issues?

The documentation says it's safer to search for issues by type ID rather than type name because type names might change, but type IDs do not. How do I find the type IDs for different issue types?

In jira cloud it´s possible to use api call to view JSON representation of an issue. Not sure how this is done for server:
