Hi @gina
In order to export Jira issues in form of a CSV/ Excel file, just search for the relevant issues using filters/ JQL and then use the "Export" button to get access to all the export options.
Next select the option "Export Excel CSV" to export the issues.
Check below screenshot for more details.
This approach is very cumbersome because it doesn't organize issues by Epic or Story :(

Hi @[deleted]
If you would be interested in a third party app to get this data, you can try out our plugin
Agile Tools : Epic Tree, Links Tree, Time in Status & Worklogs
You can export the Epics to CSV along with complete hierarchy of the Epic, and roll up time & story points progress at each level.

This seems limited to 1000 issues... how do I actually export "all"?

Hi @Angela Frey ,
There are limitations with the native Jira export. If you are open for a marketplace app, you can try Excel Online Integration for Microsoft Office 365. It works for Office 365 as well as for the Excel Desktop version. You simply select your issues and fields/columns to export directly in Jira. Also there is a real-time and a scheduled sync option. There is no limitation on the number of Jira issues that can be exported.
Kind regards,
The Mobility Team

Hello,
I got a little issue. When extracting the information, the columns: Original estimate and Time Spent show random numbers such as 28954 instead of 8h. Is this normal?

@Erika De Lara The Estimates and time spent are in seconds. The UI simply converts the value from seconds into broader timeframes. Using seconds in the DB cares for the various methods time can be entered in the UI.
In your original comment "28954 instead of 8h" if you divide 28951/60 you get 482.52 minutes, then divide 482.52/60 you get 8.042 hours. Rounding in the UI will account for the .042.

@satyanarayana kasyap karri The base design of Jira is the power to have real-time data VS stale data from exports that are typically no longer accurate moments after the export is performed.
There are various Marketplace Apps which extend the data interactions from within the UI that provide a lot of additional power to interact with the data real-time.
If you access the Marketplace (Atlassian Marketplace ), select your Product (Jira) and Hosting Type (Cloud or Data Center) with a search term of "BI" you will find many options and information regarding functionality, ratings, count of installs, pricing and more.
A couple of examples are listed below based upon the "BestSeller" classification and are cloud fortified.
Please note, these are examples based upon search terms and data collected by Atlassian. I don't want to recommend any specific applications developed by our Marketplace partners and only seek to provide information and examples.

Dear @satyanarayana kasyap karri ,
If you are open to use Marketplace Apps and willing to overcome standard Jira 1000-row limitation we can offer our free solution - Exporter for Jira. Currently, it allows exporting up to 20K issues and is available for everyone, not just up to 10 users. If you need to export more data, you can try the PRO version.
All the best!

One other, more professional approach for exporting Jira Cloud issues to Excel is Better Excel Exporter for Jira Cloud!
You not only can export all your Jira Cloud issues but use pre-built templates to create insightful Excel reports with pivot tables and charts. Read more on how to export Jira Cloud backlog to Excel in this blog.
You can also browse more export samples here.
(Please note that Better Excel Exporter Cloud is a paid and supported app and I'm part of the team developing it.)

is there a reason why Atlassian is limiting export to an arbitrary 1000 records?
why do I have to use external tools to export?
This extremely important feature if one is to do trend analysis over the years.

In efforts to help reduce pricing sprawl by adding features that not all customers desire and which would increase pricing we offer the Atlassian Marketplace for more customized needs. This allows base pricing to be low while allowing the various customers options to extend functionality.

My experience is this only works a fraction of the time when exporting to Excel. And when it does work it is very slow. Exporting to Google Sheets works much better.

A not so simple way is use the query: "Epic Link" = "devops-10296" OR parent in (devops-10300, devops-10469, devops-10460)
