How do I disable outgoing mail in JIRA OnDemand?

Michael Lee August 13, 2012

I am using a JIRA OnDemand instance as a test sandbox, and performing operations such as bulk imports. I would like to disable outgoing email to ensure I don't spam all users as I'm working through issues (Already happened once).

How do I accomplish this?

I've had the same issue. Atlassian support opened a feature request for this. You can vote on it at: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-30806

I raised a more generic and descriptive Improvement for Atlassian support which should get more visibility.

Please vote for it below:

Thanks,

Michelle

Hi Mike,

You should not be able to disable it from your end. Feel free to raise a support case through https://support.atlassian.com . An engineer should be able to disable the Outgoing Mail Server on your behalf.

Hope that helps !!!

Hi Mike,

one (plain simple) option would be to not associate the project (or all projects) with any notification scheme at all. That would do the trick with ease and you just need to (re-) add the notification scheem to the project later if you want to enable Email notifications.

Hope that helps?

Regards, David

On project-specifc emails - Yes, that would work. However, emails are still being sent out for conflicts at higher levels. For example, 14 username conflict notifications were sent out for being unable to grant application access to users during a restore.

I'm afraid this might just not be possible. Reffering to the documentation this feature ist quite clearly listed as "not available in Atlassian OnDemand" (look for "Configuring an outgoing (SMTP) Mail server").
