How do I create backups of current and past Jira Sprints?

Art Mullen April 21, 2021

Recently received a tasker to create and manage off-site backups of our group's Jira Sprint projects.  In the process of getting the SEN from our Pgm Mgr, but need more specific guidance around the following:

* Is it possible to download/create backups of past Sprint projects?  (We've just started using Jira and are on Sprint 9.  I'd like to go back and get Sprints 1-8.  You know, to collect the entire set...)

* Can I download those backups to our local server (non-Jira)?  We want to maintain these on our local NAS for historical purposes.  Doable?

Thanks!

Hi @Art Mullen , we're working on an automated backup and restore product for Jira Cloud here at Rewind. Just like our other integrations, Rewind for Jira Cloud would provide real-time backups and the ability to restore particular items (not just an all-or-nothing restore).

If you'd like to learn more, let me know! I'm always interested in learning more about different use cases for backups and what you'd like to see in our products.

Thanks,

Danny

Hi @Art Mullen

the backups are "all or nothing". If you just want to have a backup of the sprint reports it will be not possible to take them in the way to intended to.

But you could export them into a word document or PDF (anything that suits your needs):

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/view-and-understand-the-sprint-report/

Also if you want to export a single project (all along with it's data and reports) this is something yet to come. (You can find the suggestion here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-34307)
You still can export/backup your data (likely the way you do it currently) using the following procedures:
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/export-issues/

Regards,
Daniel

Hi!

Do you mean to do the automated backup of Jira cloud?

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/automate-backups-for-jira-cloud-779160659.html

No.  I was referring to creating incremental backups of our Jira project on a Sprint-by-Sprint basis.  Something I've since learned that Jira does not support.  So it's all or nothing, meaning that I'll be creating backups on the first business day of each new Sprint.  Thanks.
