I have several issues that were moving sprint-to-sprint (invisibly) through a quirk of our workflow/board set up (separate bug report for that has been filed: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-17687). But that means I have a handful of issues with tons of sprints in them ... sprints these issues weren't actually in.
I tried the bulk change trick mentioned here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/How-do-I-remove-an-issue-from-a-completed-sprint/qaq-p/123077#M51693 but it didn't work for me. Everything pretended to run, but the sprint field was not updated/cleared.
How do I actually clear this field?
The reason I need it cleared is that I use JQL queries to pull in reports of all of the issues in sprints and these invisible zombies pop up in those queries (even though they did not and do not show on my Jira boards or in-product reports).
It wasn't immediately obvious to me but you have to click the white space slightly to the right of the field then it will show the X to clear the field. (Unless you need to do them all at once, then you can go to the issues screen, narrow the search to just the issues you want then use bulk edit for all of them.)
The "Bulk Change" mentioned in https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/How-do-I-remove-an-issue-from-a-completed-sprint/qaq-p/123077#M51693 worked fine for me.
