How do I change how many hours are in a day?

It seems like when I add a time estimate to an Issue, if I put in 6h it changes it to 1d. But we want to use a 7 or 8 hour day for a particular project.

Where can I change how many hours are in a day, on the project level?

Hi @Paul Spaeth

It's not currently possible to set time specifics per project - but you can vote for this suggestion here: JRACLOUD-2780

You can change it globally as a Site Admin:

  • Go to Jira Admin Settings > Issues
  • On the left-hand side under Issues Features, select Time Tracking
  • Select Edit Global Settings at the bottom of the page and change accordingly

An option is to also change the display format from "Pretty" to just "Hours" - at least that way all estimates are displayed in one way, regardless of how long a day is judged as per team.

Or there might be an app you can utilise - I'm not aware of one which would give you this specific need, but see an example for a search of time estimation apps here.

I tried to vote for this but seems can’t vote.  Can this please be implemented as most Agile projects never plan 8 hour days due to all the Scrum Ceremonies, so we need to reduce JIRA working hours to 6 hours days.  Can’t believe JIRA tool doesn’t already allow this.
