How do I add someone else as a watcher in bulk without automation or add-ins?

I have bulk edit privileges on a project; the person I need to add as a watcher to dozens of issues in that project does not.  Neither of us has permission to create automated rules.

In Bulk Edit, I can only assign myself as a watcher - which is dumb, since I created most of them in the first place.  Jira should have a way for those with Bulk Edit permission to be able to add watchers other than just themselves.

I understand how to create the JQL to generate the list of issues that need to be modified.  I simply cannot find a way to add the other person other than manually editing one-by-one.  The situation is exacerbated by the possibility of needing to add more than one person in the future.

Installing add-ins is not an option for us either.

Hi @will_cummings

As far as I know, this is not possible without using automation or plugins. Maybe you can ask your admin if he can create a simple automation rule like this, or if the other person can get bulk edit privileges as well, at least temporarily?

Hi @Michel Neeser - I suspected that might be the case, but was holding out hope that maybe I missed something - maybe even an "undocumented feature" (lol).  In the past, our admin has been quite reluctant to change things.  Thanks for the confirmation!

Watch out for bonifide clerical errors. I lost my access to our network, they provide the information to apply credentials. Worst thing ever. Id rather buy a new tablet then the ridiculous tedious work to restrict web access. People don't care how much you know until they see how much your care.
