How can I unlock the Configuration of custom fields

Jessica Dahm November 4, 2021

Why is the configuration of some fields e.g.  "Sprint" locked by Jira and how can I unlock those fields again? Because in the old issues it's there and only in the newly created ones I can't add this field.

Those are system field that cannot be configured. Are you having an issue getting a field to display on a screen or something else?

Argh.. I have expressed myself somewhat incorrectly. Yes, it's in fact about getting a field to display in Details when creating or edit an issue. Like "Effort", "Priority", etc...

Ok so you need to add the field to your screen. Go to admin > issues custom fields, find the field you want and click on the ellipses on the right. Select associate screen and find your screen and add it. Finally you can ensure the field is included on your screen under project settings > screens.

@Jack Brickey I added the field to the screen
But can see the message
"You can't see this field in the issue view as the context is not applied to this project. Go to context to choose applicable context."

And on the "Modify configuration scheme context" page - the "You cannot change the context of field 'Epic Name' as it is locked." message

Also, on the "View Field Configuration" page this is marked as "locked"

I can't understand how to display this field in my Bugs...

Help me, please

@Jack Brickey I found the issue solving from this page, but it's only for Jira Server and Data Center only.

I have a Jira Cloud
