How can I show specific epic with its child tasks and subtasks in the dashboard?

For example, if I want to track only Epic 2 progress.

I tried to create filters for epics but in the dashboard, I am able to see the epic status only without its child issues.

just to add to Hamza's answer, this would be easy to do with the app that my team is working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you'd do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, such as support for issue hierarchies and sum-ups.

To solve your use case, you'd create a sheet that contains your epic and any potential children and sub-tasks (don't worry too much about any additional issues, JXL will filter them out for you) and enable the built-in default hierarchy plus sum-ups. Here's how this looks in action for one of our epics, WORK-148:

As you can see, the sum ups update "live" as you make changes to your issues. You can sum-up any issue field, and use various types of sum-up calculations. I should add that JXL doesn't currently have a dashboard gadget (but will do soon!) - but many customers simply use a JXL sheet as a de-facto dashboard.

As Hamza mentioned, there's actually a number of apps in the Marketplace that could help with your use case, so perhaps try out a few and see which one works best for you. You can trial any app for free for 1 month, and depending on the size of your size, an app may be free forever.

If it's only a specific Epic that you're trying to track progress of, then have you considered using the JQL query parentEpic = LGL-4 (replace LGL-4 with your epic issue key). This JQL function would show you a list of all child issues in said Epic.

Also, if you're open to Marketplace apps, then you can find both paid and free ones on there that you can leverage to see the progress of epics including a live progress summary of what's going on inside of that epic in each of the child issues.

A free app that I've found is Epic Sum Up - Free (I believe there is also a paid version of this, and the free version is limited in its feature but maybe it would satisfy your requirements). Here are other apps that you can check out).

I am part of the Epic Sum Up team and we do have a premium version available if you want to track more metrics than time. 

@[deleted] Epic Sum Up offers a dashboard gadget that can track the progress of all of your Epics. It looks like this: 

This gadget is with Story Points progress but you can also track time and other things. And for more insights into the Epics you can click on the Progress Bars to see all child issues and their values as well. 

This is just one possible solution. As @Hannes Obweger - JXL for Jira and @Hamza Chundrigar said there are a number of apps on the Marketplace that support this and can be tried on the Marketplace.
