How can I Limit the Linked issues to selected issue types

IYTHA RAJESH September 21, 2022

Hello,

I'm trying to add Validator (Related issues Validator) from JMWE Plug-in to my workflow to Restrict the Linked issues. please let me know the expression for "Condition on related issues". Please find below example for better understanding.JMWE .jpg

Example:

I want to create an issue or Ticket with "Epic" issue type and Linked issues should be Limited to "Task" or "Story".  When I select "Bug" issue type issues in the linked issues it should throw an error like " Please link issues from "Story" or "Task".

Hi @IYTHA RAJESH

are you trying to validate issues being added on the issue creation screen under "linked issues"? For example, when you create a new Epic, and you try to link that new Epic to existing issues on the creation screen, you want to show an error message if some of these issues are not Stories or Tasks?

Hi @David Fischer , I have a problem which is very similar to this one, hence replying here.

On the server version I was using an addon (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1214172/extended-schemes-for-jira?tab=overview&hosting=datacenter) which was allowing us which link is used for each issuetype.

This is important for making sure that our model is enforced, and that reports are standardized.

Unfortunately this addon is not available on Cloud, do you think we can implement a similar solution in the Cloud?

Thanks a lot

Hi @Gianni Pucciani

unfortunately, Jira Cloud doesn't support limiting the availability of issue link types in the UI. This capability might one day make it to the Cloud in "UI Modifications" but I wouldn't hold my breath, Atlassian has a lot of more pressing priorities.
