Hipchat plugin has 5 minute timeout on jira startup

When we stop and start Jira we need to wait VERY long before the JIRA loading screen appears in the browser. We checked the logs and see that the hipchat integration is taking a 5 minutes timeout before proceeding.

We already disabled the plugin via the JIRA admin. But we cannot remove it. We deleted the files from the plugin folder but these get re-downloaded automatically at next jira startup.

When reading the internet we cannot find a solution. But we found this: https://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-8.0-doc/config/jar-scan-filter.html . Are we are to disable the hipchat plugin or add it to the disabled jars filter so that it does not load again and saves us 5 minutes loading time?

Or can we change the hipchat timeout to 1 second?

Well, this is not the solution.

This would make the timeout for ALL applications 1 second. And if it would be the solution, where inside the Windows installation do we need to set this (extra) parameter?

Also the plugins are already disabled.

Read it closely, you do not want to disable all the plugins, just the 1.

If you're looking to disable HipChat plugin or hide any relevant HipChat integration button from end users, all you need is the following plugin. Disabling this plugin will remove all HipChat related buttons.

• HipChat for Jira

Keep the following plugins enabled to avoid long application restart.

• Atlassian Hipchat Integration Plugin
• Atlassian Hipchat Integration Plugin Core
