Hiding projects in Jira Service Desk customer portal - Cloud instance

Dean Mullarkey September 9, 2019

Hi there,

I was wondering did anyone have any ideas on how to hide the project links on the customer portal.. I have tried system settings and removing the Customer portal from 'Browse Projects' which in turn generated an error message:

Any help/insight is greatly appreciated.

Hey all - I'm looking into a similar issue and my customer permissions look different. Does anyone know if Jira has removed the above functionality since this post?

hello @Dean Mullarkey
You will have to put back the customer portal in the permission scheme. this is what is causing the error.

what you are looking for is this option:

then, of course, you have to add your customer to the service desk customers role of the projects you want them to see.

Hi Robert, we would like customers to be able to create requests without being added to the project.  We just wanted to simply hide the links off our customer portal page.

Dean,

what project links are you referring to? Can you share an image of what you are seeing that you wish to hide?

Dean Mullarkey September 9, 2019

projects hide.PNGI have circled in black, they are the different projects we support and I'd like to make those hidden on our landing page.

they will only be viewable by Customers of the given project. So if you don't want a customer to see these then you need to remove the customer from the each project.

I have tried that on each project and it returns the following error:

It also lead to more problems such as the inability of unregistered customers to create cases etc, was wondering if there was a way to simply hide them.

I guess I need to better understand your requirements. The purpose of the portal channel is to give your customers a means of raising requests, viewing requests and viewing KB articles if configured to do so. So are you trying to make the portal 'blank' for any and all customers for all projects or what?

Dean Mullarkey September 10, 2019

That is correct, I am trying to make the portal blank for any and all customers on all projects

I’m guessing you serve your customers thru email only and simply want to ‘disable’ the portal channel? Unfortunately there is no way currently to hide a portal from a Customer of the associated project. There are quite a few open requests related to this. Here is one that also has some related links - JSDCLOUD-1547 I encourage you to vote/watch any that apply here.

Correct, thanks very much for the input.  I will vote & watch that carefully!  Appreciate the quick response & guidance.
