Hide completed issues is not working

Deleted user February 6, 2023

I use a Kanban board, where I set the setting: 'Hide completed issues older than' on 1 week. However, all issues remain on the board.

I already checked whether the resolution status is done for these issues, and that is the case.

What could the problem be?

Hi @[deleted] and welcome to the Community!

Resolution is not a status; it is a field that should be filled out when you move an issue to a done status.

Also, and maybe more importantly, issues in a kanban board are considered done when they reach the rightmost column on your board. Regardless of status, that setting will only apply to issues in that column.

Hope this helps!

And, adding to what @Walter Buggenhout said...

The time period is looking at the Updated timestamp for the issue, not the Resolved timestamp.

If your resolved issues are getting updated after they have been resolved, that will cause them to reappear on the board. They will stop appearing when there has been no Updates to the issue for the specified time period.

@Trudy Claspill That must be the problem.

This logic is for me not really obvious and it is stated nowhere (besides your comment now :D). I advice to either add this clearly in your documentation, in the application itself, or in my case: just remove it as feature.

@Trudy Claspill @Walter Buggenhout thanks for the response, appreciated!

I am just another user of the product, not a member of the Atlassian team, so I am not able to update their documentation.

I am running into this issue as well. My board is set up to hide all "Finished" tasks after one week. However, it is showing all "Finished" items.

I looked at when some of them were updated, and some were well over 1 week ago.

The far right hand column of my board is for "Finished" items. In looking at the board configuration, the far right column has a status of "Finished" and I verified everything in that column has a status of "Finished."

@Jason Chayer

When you add to an existing post the only people that see your update are the original author, responders, and people who elected to Watch the post.

To get maximum community visibility on your issue I suggest that you start a brand new Question rather than add to a year-old post. If you believe this old post is relevant to your question, you could include a link to it.

@[deleted] I bumped in to this today. I discovered the right column status was categorized as In Progress rather than Done. After changing the category the hide completed issues option worked as expected.

Tagging @Walter Buggenhout as well, as I believe the resolution field may not be required here.
