Getting error while creating issue through rest api

Im trying to create an issue through rest api. My issue screen has three screens for filling details with a custom fields.

I formed an JSON to run the api, getting the below error.

"customfield_40838": "Field 'customfield_40838' cannot be set. It is not on the appropriate screen, or unknown.",

what could be the issue , is it because of different screens in the create issue?

Make sure that the custom field is added to the screen related to Create Issue operation.

Yes it is, because im able to create manually.
