Generating Sprint Worklog Reports by Time Spent Within Sprint Period

Rohith k December 11, 2024

Hi Team,

Greetings of the day!!

We are seeking sprint worklog reports that detail the time spent within the current sprint period. It is important that we exclude any time logged on issues from previous sprints. Additionally, we require the time tracking to be reported separately for each Collaborator.

For example
, consider we have 10 tickets in Sprint A. During this sprint, we logged time for all the tickets. However, 7 of these tickets have been closed, while the remaining 3 have been moved to a new sprint called Sprint B. In Sprint B, we do not want to include the time spent on those 3 tickets from Sprint A; instead, we need to capture the time spent on these tickets as logged in the current Sprint B.

Also, we need to track the time spent for each collaborator.

Is there a way to generate the sprint reports to reflect this requirement?

Thanks,
Rohith.

Hi @Rohith k ,

If you want to be able to create multiple levels and view the worklog amount for each level, I recommend to use WorklogPRO. Jira doesn't have this feature right now.
Thanks to WorklogPro's hierarchical grouping feature, you can group worklogs by users by adding users and then issues to the grouping section. After creating a filter that shows the resolved issues included in the sprints, you can create the report you want by selecting this filter in the filters section of the create report dialog. Each user has a worklog hour schema, and according to this schema, there is a worklog amount that must be entered for the relevant period. You can view the user's progress according to this amount.

Hi @Rohith k

For detailed worklog reporting if you would be interested in a mktplace app, you may want to try out our mktplace app. Other option is to use Jira Rest API's to build your own custom solution.

Worklogs Time Tracking & Timesheets

With this add-on, you can easily view time entries for multiple issues day wise grouped by in a single view. Also for your requirement as shown in the screen grab below, you can filter the time spent between your sprint date range.

Hi @Rahul_RVS

I am trying to fetch the data with this addon, I am unable to see the result. Attached Screenshot for reference.
When I am trying to filter project name and sprint, I am getting no result found.

Hi @Rahul_RVS

I can generate the reports now; however, they are not producing the expected results. We need a report structured as follows:

Example: For ticket Jira-123, User-A is the assignee and recorded 2h of work on this ticket. In some cases, User-B may also log time spent—let's say 4h in this instance. Therefore, the total time spent on this ticket would be 6h. It’s important for us to see a breakdown of time spent by each user who worked on the ticket (Worklog author by time spent). Currently, when we pull data based on assignee and their logged hours, it appears that all 6h are attributed solely to User-A.

Is there any way to extract these types of reports? Alternatively, could you recommend any third-party add-ons that might help us obtain them?

Thank you!

Hi @Rohit

You can use the following filter criteria to get detailed break down : "Category - Author", "Group By - Issue" . This will provide the required data. As shown in the screen shot below, for issue AG-117, 2 users have booked time.

Hi, Unfortunately JIRA does not offer this out of the box. You can try an addon like Timescale or some other to see if it helps. There are sprints reports on time spent per sprint, people and many others.
